OVERVIEW:

The Immanuel German School, a not-for-profit, non-sectarian and non-discriminatory organization, was founded in 1975 to offer German language instruction to the children of the Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church congregation. Over the years, the program has grown in its dimension and scope and now attracts pupils from Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey, as well as the German-American community. In 1991, the first adult classes were offered in response to numerous requests. Beginner and intermediate level courses are available.

The school places children into classes according to their age and knowledge of German. State-of-the-art teaching materials, computer programs, and resource library are used by the professional and native speaker faculty, which attends workshops through the year to become better acquainted with the newest techniques, methodologies and aids available. Adult classes emphasize developing conversational skills, as well as learning German vocabulary and grammar. Cultural and social topics, especially as they differ from American customs, are also addressed.

The Immanuel German School is a member of the German Language School Conference and the German American Chamber of Commerce - Philadelphia.

The Immanuel German School acknowledges with gratitude the generous financial support of the:
